BSM CIP seals are critical components used to create a reliable, hygienic seal within CIP (Clean-In-Place) union assemblies. Positioned between the mating faces of the union components, these seals prevent leakage while maintaining a smooth, sanitary interface within the process line. They are widely used in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, and other hygienic processing systems where cleanliness, product integrity, and repeatable sealing performance are essential.

Selecting the correct seal material is key to ensuring long-term reliability and compatibility with operating conditions. Different materials are chosen based on process temperature, chemical exposure, pressure, and cleaning regimes such as CIP or SIP (Sterilise-In-Place). EPDM seals are commonly specified for CIP applications due to their excellent resistance to hot water, steam, and many alkaline and acidic cleaning chemicals. They perform well in standard wash-down and CIP cycles and are widely accepted in hygienic systems. Teflon (PTFE) seals offer outstanding chemical resistance and high temperature capability, making them suitable for more aggressive media or processes requiring maximum inertness.

The sizes shown are available in both EPDM and Teflon (PTFE), covering common BSM CIP union dimensions. Additional seal materials are available upon request, including Nitrile (NBR) and Viton (FKM). Nitrile seals are often selected for applications involving oils or hydrocarbons, while Viton provides enhanced resistance to higher temperatures and a broader range of chemicals, making it suitable for more demanding process environments.

BSM CIP seals are designed for easy installation and replacement during maintenance or system reconfiguration. Correct sizing is essential to ensure proper compression, effective sealing, and consistent hygienic performance. The seal size should always be selected to match the CIP union size being used.
