Ferrule Seal

Ferrule seals are essential components used to create a hygienic, leak-resistant seal between ferrule faces in sanitary clamp connections. When compressed between two ferrules and secured with a clamp, the seal prevents product leakage while maintaining a smooth, sanitary interface within the pipework. Ferrule seals are widely used in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, and other hygienic processing systems where cleanliness and product integrity are critical.

The correct seal material plays a key role in system performance and longevity. Different elastomer and polymer options are selected based on operating temperature, chemical exposure, pressure conditions, and cleaning regimes such as clean-in-place (CIP) or sterilise-in-place (SIP). EPDM seals are commonly used in hygienic applications due to their good resistance to hot water, steam, and many cleaning chemicals, making them suitable for standard wash-down and CIP processes. Teflon (PTFE) seals offer excellent chemical resistance and high temperature capability, making them ideal for more aggressive media or applications requiring maximum chemical compatibility.

The sizes shown are available in both EPDM and Teflon (PTFE), covering common ferrule dimensions used in sanitary pipework systems. Additional seal materials are available upon request, including Nitrile (NBR) and Viton (FKM). Nitrile seals are often selected for applications involving oils or fuels, while Viton seals provide enhanced resistance to high temperatures and a wide range of chemicals, making them suitable for more demanding process conditions.

Ferrule seals are designed for easy installation and replacement during maintenance or system reconfiguration. Selecting the correct seal size is essential to ensure proper compression, effective sealing, and long-term performance. The seal size should always match the ferrule connection size being used.
