Stainless steel sheet in No.4 satin finish (often referred to as “N4”) is a widely specified material for architectural, commercial, and interior fabrication where a refined brushed appearance is required. Supplied in standard 1219mm × 2438mm sheet sizes, the No.4 finish features a consistent, linear grain that delivers a clean, professional look. Compared with brighter polished finishes, the satin surface is more forgiving in day-to-day use, helping to conceal minor scratches, scuffs, and fingerprints. This makes it particularly suitable for high-traffic and highly visible applications.
No.4 satin stainless steel sheet is commonly used in splashbacks, wall cladding, joinery panels, lift interiors, shopfitting, kitchen and bar fit-outs, benches, counters, and general sheet metal fabrication. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, stainless steel provides excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and long service life when the correct grade is selected for the operating environment. These properties make it a practical and cost-effective solution for both decorative and functional applications.
Availability typically varies by thickness, grade, and finish. For the No.4 satin finish, Grade 304 stainless steel is commonly stocked in lighter gauges, such as 0.7mm, where ease of forming and cost efficiency are priorities. Across common working thicknesses including 0.9mm, 1.2mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, and 3mm, both Grade 304 and Grade 316 stainless steel are typically available. Grade 316 offers enhanced resistance to chlorides and harsh environments, making it suitable for coastal, food service, and chemically exposed areas. Heavier thicknesses such as 5mm, 6mm, and 10mm are often supplied as special order items to meet specific project requirements.
Where a brighter or alternative appearance is required, the same sheet size may be available in 2B mill finish, Mirror (No.8), or selected 430 stainless finishes such as No.4 and BA. For visible architectural work, No.4 satin stainless steel sheet remains a reliable choice that balances durability, ease of maintenance, and a premium brushed aesthetic.
